After witnessing bullish trend during the last four sessions, the investors opted to book profit on available margins that forced the Pakistan Stock Exchange to close on negative note on the last day of the week.

BRIndex100 lost 63.14 points or 1.88 percent to close at 3,287.94 points on Friday. During the session, the BRIndex-100 touched an intraday high of 3,375.75 and an intraday low of 3,271.37 points. Total volumes stood at 220.385 million shares.

BRIndex30 decreased by 352.63 points or 2.02 percent to close at 17,067.99 points with total turnover of 162.597 million shares. KSE-100 index declined by 534.43 points or 1.68 percent and closed at 31,350.02 points. Trading activities remained low as daily trading volumes on ready counter decreased to 230.725 million shares as compared to 261.691 million shares traded on Thursday.

Total market capitalization declined by Rs 72 billion to Rs 6.339 trillion. Out of total 358 active scrips, 213 closed in negative and 130 in positive while the value of 15 stocks remained unchanged.

Unity Foods was the volume leader with 18.868 million shares however lost Re 0.15 to close at Rs 9.33 followed by Maple Leaf that decreased by Re 0.33 to close at Rs 19.97 with 16.907 million shares. Sapphire Textile and Sanofi-Aventis were the top gainers increasing by Rs 61.70 and Rs 26.12 respectively to close at Rs 1310.98 and Rs 548.70 while Island Textile and Sapphire Fiber were the top losers declining by Rs 106.99 and Rs 45.00 respectively to close at Rs 2033.00 and Rs 855.00.

BR Automobile Assembler Index lost 47.55 points or 0.95 percent to close at 4,957.34 points with total turnover of 2.210 million shares. BR Cement Index closed at 2,876.04 points, down 27.82 points or 0.96 percent with 39.275 million shares.

BR Commercial Banks Index declined by 144.31 points or 1.88 percent to close at 7,520.38 points with 25.645 million shares. BR Power Generation and Distribution Index plunged by 144.63 points or 3.26 percent to close at 4,293.13 points with 7.841 million shares.

BR Oil and Gas Index fell by 80.07 points or 2.23 percent to close at 3,502.99 points with 17.188 million shares. BR Tech & Comm Index decreased by 15.58 points or 2.22 percent to close at 687.26 points with 30.571 million shares.

Maaz Mulla at JS Global Capital said that the Pakistan equities closed negative after a brief rally with the KSE-100 Index shedding 534 points, closing at 31,350 levels, down 1.7 percent.

The local bourse came under pressure after the international media suggested that FATF's Asia-Pacific Group has put Pakistan on blacklist due to many shortcomings in Pakistan's efforts in combating terrorism and money laundering.

HUBC (down 4.2 percent), HBL (down 2.5 percent), PPL (down 3.1 percent), FFC (down 3.0 percent), UBL (down 2.6 percent), OGDC (down 1.5 percent), LUCK (down 2.0 percent), MCB (down 1.3 percent) and POL (down 1.7 percent) were the major laggards contributing towards the negative index.
